Privacy Policy
Last updated November 4, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how CCC2C Inc., a Delaware corporation, 131 Continental Dr, Suite 305, Newark, DE 19713, United States (“CCC2C,” “we,” “us”), collects, uses, discloses and retains personal information in connection with Subtext, a city guide delivered by text message (the “Service”), and the website at subtext.city (the “Site”).
1. Information we collect
Information you provide. Your phone number; the first name and interests you give when you sign up; the messages you send to Subtext, including voice messages and images; the places you name, such as home or work; reminders you set; notes you leave at places; Wi-Fi network names and passwords you share; and the phone numbers of friends you add.
Location. When you share your location with Subtext, for example through Apple’s Find My, we receive your device’s location for as long as you keep sharing it.
Site usage. The Site records page views and actions, such as opening the demo video or submitting the sign-up form, together with the page, the referring page, the country and the type of device. It does not use cookies for this and does not store IP addresses. The Doha pages set one cookie that remembers the language you chose.
2. How we use information
- To provide the Service: to determine where you are and when you stop, walk, drive or park, to send you information about places near you, to answer your questions, and to deliver your reminders, notes and Wi-Fi details.
- To tell you and a friend that you are near each other, and to suggest a place to meet, but only when you have both agreed.
- To operate, secure, debug and improve the Service.
- To comply with law and to protect the rights, safety and property of our users, CCC2C and others.
3. Artificial intelligence
Subtext’s replies are written by AI models, which receive the messages you send and the information needed to answer them. Anthropic’s models are used through its API, under terms that do not permit training on that content. Models from other providers are reached through OpenRouter and routed only to providers that neither store nor train on what is sent. Voice messages are transcribed by Cloudflare, spoken replies are generated by ElevenLabs, and notes are reviewed by an AI model before they are published.
4. How we disclose information
- Service providers that process information on our behalf: Photon (delivery of messages and location sharing), Cloudflare (hosting, storage and transcription), Anthropic and OpenRouter (AI models), ElevenLabs (speech), Google (information about places) and Firecrawl (reading public web pages).
- Other users. A friend you have added learns that you are nearby only if you both agree, and is not told your exact location. A note you leave is shown, with your first name, to anyone who later stops at that place.
- Partners, such as a district or venue where the Service operates, receive only aggregated information that does not identify any individual.
- Legal and corporate. Where required by law or legal process, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
We do not sell personal information, we do not use it for targeted advertising, and we do not use it to train AI models.
5. Retention
- Your latest location, and your locations from the last 30 minutes, to work out movement, stops and parking.
- Where your car is parked, until you drive away or ask Subtext to forget it. Where a vehicle you were in last stopped, and where that trip began, for one hour.
- The places you have saved and the facts you have told Subtext, until you remove them.
- The places Subtext has looked up or texted you about, so that it does not repeat itself; your last 60 stops at train and ferry stations; the notes you have opened; and the 50 most recent places whose Wi-Fi Subtext sent you.
- Your conversation with Subtext, so that it can keep the context, which may be condensed into summaries over time.
- To improve the detection of driving and parking, we may record the locations of a trip for up to 12 hours, and we keep detailed logs for users who have agreed to help test the Service. Both are deleted after two days.
Except as stated above, we keep information until you delete it or ask us to.
6. Your choices
- You may stop sharing your location at any time, in Find My or in your device’s settings.
- Text “pause” to stop texts about places, and “back” to resume them.
- Text “delete me” (or “احذفني”) to erase all personal information we hold about you, including your notes and friends, except information we are required by law to keep.
- To request access to or correction of your information, or to exercise any other right available to you under applicable law, write to hello@subtext.city.
7. Security
We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children
The Service is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. International users
We and our service providers process information in the United States and in other countries, which may have data protection laws different from those where you live. For users in the State of Qatar, we process personal information in accordance with Law No. 13 of 2016 on the Protection of Personal Data Privacy.
10. Changes
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated Policy on this page and change the date above. If a change is material, we will give reasonable notice, for example by text message.
